Banana Oat Smoothie gone wrong.

So here's the story. I attempted to make a Banana Oatmeal Smoothie. Bad idea. I am impatient sometimes (and so is my brother, who just happened to be my sidekick on this easy adventure) and we didn't want to cook the oatmeal. That was a mistake, because it made the smoothie incredibly thick and dry. Here's my little bit of advice that should accompany common sense: always follow the recipe on your first go at that recipe, no matter how impatient you are.

See my uncooked oatmeal?!
But we got lucky this time. Since this recipe wasn't being baked or anything of that sort, my brother and I just kind of started throwing things in there. A few tablespoons of honey, a half a cup of peanut butter, some milk and BOOM. We were satisfied with the concoction we had...concocted. I know that is not much direction...but maybe if you have a bit more patience than I had this last time, you will have more luck with this recipe!

Banana Oatmeal Smoothie
Ingredients:-2 whole bananas
-2 cups of ice
-1/3 cup of yogurt (I used what they recommended, which was Greek yogurt flavored w/ honey)
-1/2 cup of cooked oatmeal
-1/3 cup of almonds
The directions are simple: put all of the ingredients in the blender and blend until the smoothie thickens.

I hope you had a marvelous Thanksgiving. I will post about my mishaps on this glorious holiday later. Here's a sneak peak: it has something to do with my baby (my iPhone) and the Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie n' Oreo Fudge Brownie Bars. I can sense you shaking your head already.

Define: Clibanisophobia

Hello! I'll start this shindig off by introducing myself. My name is Abigail Warren. Born January 29th, 1994, so I'm still very much a child. I will graduate from high school on June 1st, 2012. This blog will be one way that I can help figure some things out about myself and my future, while sharing delicious recipes with all who populate the Internet. I am no chef, but I love to bake. Especially anything sweet. I used to bake a couple of batches of brownies here, a cake there, just random, easy stuff. But lately, I've been branching out and I'm finding that I love every aspect of baking. It blows my mind that I can start off with flour, sugar, butter, an egg, and some vanilla and I end up with cookies (hint of sarcasm there, but seriously...it's like a tasty chemistry experiment where I can eat the ingredients). And I must say, the pay off isn't too shabby either. My sweet tooth commends me.

I'm sure all of you know what clibanisophobia is. No? Well, don't worry. I didn't either until I did a bit of research. Clibanisophobia is the fear of ovens. I wouldn't say I am phobic, but I do hate putting things in the oven. Clumsy and ovens don't appear to go together. I have a minor fear that I'll either trip and burn my face or trip and break the oven door. I have never done either, so it is a bit irrational. But hey, it doesn't stop me. I'm getting over this fear one batch of cookies at a time.

So here's the plan, Stan. I'll try recipes (new ones, old ones, ones I find in my mom's recipe box, ones in cookbooks, ones I spot on food blogs or ones I find really anywhere on the Internet, etc.) and I'll post about it. I'll take pictures of before and after (they will be taken with an iPhone, so quality...not guaranteed). I'll post the recipe and a link to wherever I find the recipe, or give credit to the cookbook in which I found it from. And we'll all be satisfied!

Now, Thanksgiving is right around the corner. I have purchased ingredients for 3 recipes: Candied Yams with Marshmallows (from the bible of all things cooking, the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook) , Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie n’ Oreo Fudge Brownie Bars (from Kevin & Amanda), and Spiced Cider Whoopie Pies (from A Beautiful Mess). After bake these, I will post about them.
